 7. Storefront theaters
Sure, you’ve had a few WICKED times in the Loop’s Theater District, but Chicago’s off-Loop spots and fringe companies offer the alt-adventures we love. Even better, you can’t throw a stage prop without hitting a small theater in most parts of the city. Better yet, you get real diversity: Think spectacle (Redmoon), epic original (The House Theatre of Chicago), irreverent (Gorilla Tango), alfresco (Theatre-Hikes) and campy (Hell in a Handbag Productions).
