Jerry Springer-The Opera

I’m a little behind on my posts. Okay, I’m a lot of behind on my posts. Last Thursday I saw Jerry Springer- The Opera at The Bailiwick Repertory Theatre, directed by David Zak (POSEIDON!) , and I have to say it was one of the best shows I’ve seen in quite some time. There were many moments of jaw dropping brilliance, and it takes quite a bit for me to drop my jaw. The cast is nearly perfect and they work their asses off. And yes, this is an OPERA- but imagine an opera in the language of the lost souls of The Jerry Springer show… It’s like watching a spectacular accident. You know it’s wrong but you can’t take your eyes off of it. Pictured above is Ryan Lanning(Tommy Ross from SCARRIE) as the trash talking tranny, one of my favorites. We love Ryan and he always delivers. But I must give props to Ms. Kate Garasinno as the wanna be pole dancer, crack whore, Harmony France (who is in our upcoming Reefer Madness-The Musical)  and Jeremy Rillas Satan. Is the show perfect? No. The second act runs way too long, but there are still wonderful moments not to be missed in it. Bravo to Director, David Zak, Musical Director, Gary Powell, and the entire cast for whipping this 300lb. transvestite gorilla of a show into a proper lady.

  1. Many kudos to Mr. Ryan!

In that photo, he looks a little like a cross between Alison Moyet and Helen Reddy…

  2. Maybe a little Jenna Elfman?
