Ed Jones in Dick O’Day’s Big Lovely Bingo!

For one night only, Dick O’Day’s Big, Lovely Bingo the long running interactive
theatrical game show returns to its home of five years: The Annoyance
Theatre. On Wednesday, June 27 at 8pm, Dick “My Bizness Is Show” O’Day
will again take to the Annoyance stage to preside over his patented version
of the game show staple which originally ran at the theatre from 1995-2000
(when the previous Annoyance space closed).
In addition to offering audience members a chance to win hideously fabulous prizes, BLB gives O’Day license to
delve into the lives (and sometimes personal effects) of his audience, sing a song or two, create unique “time
outs” for difficult audience members, and read a selection from his personal “liberry” (“Shaft Among the
Jews” and “On Tour With Donny and Marie” are just two of these classic books). This show also marks the
first time O’Day is bringing BLB to the Annoyance’s new theatre in Uptown. It all happens as part of the city of
Chicago’s “Art of Play” improv game show summer series. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the
Annoyance company’s website http://www.annoyanceproductions.com/or by calling the box office: 773.561.HONK
(4665). The Annoyance is located at 4840 N. Broadway, Chicago, Illinois.
You CAN Go Home Again!
This performance of “Dick O’Day’s Big, Lovely Bingo” will also introduce O’Day’s
new bingo assistant, board watcher, and chief prize overseer, the subservient yet
VERY firm Carol Ann. Carol Ann, a kindly maiden lady who does not use a last name,
also serves as assistant to Miss Joan Crawford. For O’Day she combines her bingo
expertise with an eye for selecting unconscionably bad prizes. Both she and her
boss promise surprises galore at this latest edition of his long running theatrical
show.
Carol Ann’s control personality Ed Jones will be familiar to theatrical fans of
Handbag Productions where she was most recently seen as part of their summer
series. In addition to memorable roles in parody productions of “The Poseidon
Adventure,” “Carrie” and many other Handbag shows, Jones as Carol Ann is also a
lead singer with The Joans, a new wave band led by a duo of singing Joan Crawford
impersonators.
