My Way of Life
Our rehearsal for The Birds went very well Saturday. Lots of fascinating discussion on Camille Paglia, Alfred Hitchcock and The Birds film. The interesting thing for me was cast member Adrienne Smith’s research on Hitchcock pulled up none of the dirt in him that I found.  We then discussed the theory that he (Hitch) did what he had to do to get the performance from Tippi he wanted and that it was based our of love- sort of. Since Adrienne is playing the voice of Hitchcock I realized it was important that she believe this. And what can you say about Camille Paglia? For all of her maddening statements I still like her and feel like she would be fun as hell to have around. She is so damn passionate about The Birds you can’t help but love her. The Joans gig at The Mutiny went very well. I think we played over our alloted time, but it was good practice. The place really is a dump, and while I like dive bars, changing into Joan Crawford in a room behind the bar the size of a small kitchen pantry is something I don’t think I’d be doing again.  We had a great crowd too. Peter Mavrik, Jodi, The Tims. Gary Ward and Johnny C., Tracy Repep, Christopher, Louie from the Retardos de LaMour and the professor and Mary Ann.

I had fun, even when I’m pelted with Tamborines! It allowed me to get my name mentioned! I always love good attention.
My favorite Mutiny moment was going to the bar and there being a cute dog sitting on a bar stool with a beer in front of it… but I think that you’d have to remodel to even call that place a dump.
On the other hand the sound was fantastic… and love the new songs…
That dog was a lush, I tell you…a LUSH.
He may have been a lush but Ed said he was a good lay.
