My Way of Life

Maggie Furlong, a Metromix TV critic thinks there are WAY too many transvestites on ABC. According to her Rebecca Romijn on Ugly Betty was ENOUGH. Apparently she doesn’t think a real transvestite needs to play one on Dirty Sexy Money. Or maybe she thinks they didn’t need a transvestite character at all. Actually I don’t know what the hell she means or why the hell she even bothered to make a point of calling ABC on the sudden transvestite explosion. I hate it when critics don’t what the f*ck they’re talking about which is most of the time.

She forgot Rafe, the transgendered character on “All My Children.” That’s ABC too! Stupid bitch!
I didn’t get that at all from her review. I personally feel like they are trotting the TG/TV characters out to be “edgy.” Furlong makes no mention of not liking the fact that the character is being played by an actual TG actor, or that htey didn’t need one at all. What I think she’s saying is that the overuse of this type of character on ABC’s shows could get old (i.e. lose originality) real fast. Remember, her using the word “eh” to describe this plot point would seem to imply boredom, or “whatever”.
I know how she feels, then. I say “eh” whenever I watch ANY of the new shows these days, except “House” and “Ugly Betty.” (I don’t even see those that often.)
