I bought my first B-52’s album when I was 17 in Hammond, IN. I had never heard their music. I knew back in 1979 that with a cover like that had to good and I loved it. Anybody who dressed like this in Hammond would most likely get the crap beat out of them unless they were like the cashier at the grocery store with crayola Clairol hair and the liquid eyeliner who had know idea how ‘new wave’ she was. I still love them and their new song reminds me why I love them. They still are the masters of campy rock with a swinging beat. Brilliant lyrics. My favorite being “I’m your daytime waitress at the Taco Tiki Hut. I’m your daytime waitress, here’s your stupid 7UP.” F*cking brilliant.
