My Way of Life

My band The Joans played Pridefest in Milwaukee, WI this past Saturday and we had a nice time. The stage was gorgeous- the main stage, baby. I guess there were 1000’s of people there and we had about 50-60 actually sit down and watch us play- which is fine. Our dulcet tones were pumped though the entire park. I loved being to play around on a huge stage and we sounded damn good. We were about 5/6 finished when a siren went off. I felt like Nonnie on The Poseidon Adventure looking around in bewiderment. One of the Pridefest people came out and told us we had to stop playing and get into the dressing area as there was tornado warning. A twister had touched down 5 miles east or west of us. Poor Jennifer Joans was singing her heart out but apparently her voice summons disaster. We had a really cool cross section of people in the audience from adorable youngsters to more mature people. I was glad to see so many women in the audience too.  We huddled in the enclosed backstage area with Natasha Bedenfeld’s people, the band Major Thom, and Marc Felion and Rick Aiello from Feast of Fools- who came to hear The Joans. It was all good. We had a nice time and even stopped in Racine on our way home to some joint famous for it’s chicken.
