So yesterday my sister was driving her boys to their Summer school programs. The younger one, (8)Ethan, is taking DRAMA, which really thirlls me to no end. They’re sitting in the car when his mother asks him if he’s excited- how does he feel. He says he’s looking forward to it and hopes he can play women’s parts like Uncle David. My sister froze and his brother Sebastian, freaked a bit. My sister told Ethan that Uncle David was a comedian, and he did those roles in comedies. Ethan said he knew this and wants to play ladies roles. That made my day.

I love how parents ALWAYS freeze when the child exhibits cross-dressing desires. None of them ever shit their pants outright–it takes a “frozen” moment, when they’re stuck between figuring out if they just heard correctly and whether or not to stop the car…
Oh if only he had said that he wanted to be a rapist, or dope abuser, or even a republican! Anything but wear a ladies dress!
Be nice to that one. He’s going to have it rough over the next 10 years.
Ethan is not particularly fey. Just marches to his own drummer…
