Merrie GreenfieldMerrie Greenfield originally auditioned for her first production with these folks for Rudolph the Red-Hosed Reindeer, because their space (the Olde Sweetcorn Playhouse) was a block from her house. Within 2 months, the place was razed. Today Merrie’s very proud to work with these people and would happily trek through miles of snow for them. Past roles with Sweetback Productions include multiple years of Mrs. Donner and Dolly the Misfit Toy in Rudolph. She performed Connie and Marvell-Anne in Touched by Jayne Mansfield and a stint in the original monologue for 2000’s Screw Xmas. Perhaps her most high-profile turn was as Camille Paglia in 2001’s runaway critical and commercial smash The Birds. The real Ms. Paglia called the performance her “uber-self in full flower,” and Tippi Hedren wound up wearing Merrie’s coat when she came to the show. Next with Handbag, she will originate the role of Lara in David Cerda’s latest masterpiece, Poseidon! An Upside-Down Musical (Winter 2002)... |
