Aaron Smith grew up (well, sort of) in central Illinois, where he attended Bradley University, and moved to Chicago in 1997. He sang with Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus for eight years and began working with Hell In A Handbag Productions during the fall 2004 workshop of Scarrie: The Musical and also did sound and music for the full run in the summer of 2005. He wrote a segment for Handbag’s 2005 fall production, Twilight Gallery and was in the orchestra of the Caged Dames (both the fall 2006 and winter 2007 runs). By day, he works at a philanthropic foundation, but do not ask him for money—it’s not his!
Aaron is also a singer/drummer/songwriter, and has performed with the rock groups Flesh Hungry Dog and Big Girls Eat Cake, and is a member of The Joans (“giving Joan Crawford the rock and roll voice she deserves”) with fellow Handbaggers David Cerda and Ed Jones.
