Adrienne Smith is thrilled to be part of the Handbag ensemble after spending many years working with the kindred spirits in The Free Associates Theatre Company (R.I.P.). All that parody prepared her well for her Handbag debut as a homicidal half-wit in Caged Dames. Recent credits include Children of the Night (Stages 2007, Theatre Building Chicago) and Raised at the side project, where she also appeared in Galileo and The Sum of Her Parts (Jeff Citation Nomination - Supporting Actress in a Play). She’s also been seen in A New Brain with LaCosta Theatre Company, Cloud 9 with Infamous Commonwealth (After Dark Award – Outstanding Ensemble), The Women with Headstrong Productions and Shoppers Carried by Escalators into the Flames at the Viaduct. As a member of The Free Associates, she also dabbled in directing, with the original parodies Improvanov, What the Dickens?!, and Alfred Hitchcock Resents. Adrienne is a lifelong Chicagoan and has been acting since her parents caught her practicing crying in front of the mirror at the age of 2.
