    Hell in a Handbag is dedicated to the preservation, exploration, and celebration of art of camp and parody onstage, in the most ridiculous manner possible.

David Cerda is the co-founder and Artistic Director of HIAH Productions. He’s also the resident playwright. Cerda has written SuperPussy Vixens, Go Faster! Kill!, SCARRIE- The Musical, Rudolph the Red-Hosed Reindeer (1997-2011), Joan Crawford Goes to Hell, Touched by Jayne Mansfield, The Birds, the Jackie Susann monologues in Jacqueline Susann’s Valley of the DollsPoseidon! An Upside Down Musical, How ‘Whatever Happened to Baby Jane’ Happened, Caged Dames, The Rip Nelson Halloween Spooktacular, Lady X,  and TROGG! A Musical. His plays have been produced throughout the country by discriminating camp aficionados.  Cerda has worked around Chicago with Corn Productions in The Bad Seed- The Musical, The Paper Machete live magazine show, Mookie Jam, Live Bait’s Fillet of Solo Festival, The Fresh Squeezed Series at Victory Garden Theater. He is also the founder of The Joans, a rock band dedicated to giving Joan Crawford a rock and roll voice. He lives in Chicago with Christopher, his main man of 15 years and is determined to remain the favorite uncle to 10 nephews and nieces.
